“I guess so” Anja said, “but I sure wish that I could fly like you.” Anja went into her closet and closed the door most of the way so that no one could see her. A moment later she came back out with a big smile and a pair of sparkly wings on her back! She was holding a small stick with a shiny star at one end.

“Wings!” exclaimed Ella, “Are they real?”

“No,” said Anja, “They’re just from my Halloween costume. But I still like to wear them sometimes and pretend they’re real.” Anja waved the small stick and said, “This is my magic wand. I can wish for anything that I want and then I wave this and pretend that my wish comes true.”

“Ooh, fun!” Said Ella, “Can I make a wish?”

“Sure!” said Anja.

“OK,” said Ella, “I wish that I was big like you!”

Anja waved her magic wand in front of Ella and said, “Abracadabra, alacazam! You’re big!”

Ella flew up onto the top of Anja’s bookshelf and said “Look at me! I’m big!”

“And I can fly!” said Anja as she ran around the room. They both giggled happily.
