ARTIST'S COMMENT

This painting was the first result of a pilgrimage to Monet's gardens in Giverny, France. I took hundreds of reference photographs that I brought home to my studio in California. I had begun to gain a reputation as a decent replicator of other painters' styles, but here I thought that it would be more interesting to interpret such an iconic artistic landmark in my own style.
