ARTIST'S COMMENT

By the early eighties, I was exploring romantic themes from classical European art and literature. The whimsical subject matter of Shakespeare's play of the same title was an obvious subject.

In this painting, I began to incorporate a French Baroque style influence to evoke a softer, romantic mood than in the hyper-meticulous style of my earlier training.
