"In the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes" Andy Warhol |
ARTIST'S COMMENT In 1991, I attended a gallery recption for one of my childhood idols, Peter Max. We shook hands and chatted for a while. That evening, I went back to my studio and began this series of paintings in a radical departure from my more traditional style. I had a lot of fun with this series and exhibited them in several popular venues in San Francisco. I was then "discovered" by a major fine art publisher for my traditional work, so this pop icon series was relegated to a brief but fond footnote in my career.
