ARTIST'S COMMENT

This was one of a few paintings I did in 1993-4 featuring the Aurora Borealis. A few months later, I was commissioned to produce a series of production illustrations for a proposed animated feature film in which the main character is an enchanted princess from the North Pole who has animal friends including a white owl and wolf. The client had never seen this painting.

Also coincidentally, I almost titled this painting Freya after the Nordic goddess, which would have been interesting since I met my wife Freya about a year later.
