ARTIST'S COMMENT

This was the first of two illustrations commissioned by Marvel Comics for their X-Men Series. The concept was a series of promotional posters by well-known illustrators from outside the comics field. Having seen my other work, they expected something serene and romantic. Not knowing that, I painted this. Upon delivery, they commissioned a second version, which was to be in a more typical "Bedrick" style. I did it, but still prefer this one.
